17 things I learned from 2017

2018 iS HERE!

I can't believe 2017 is OVER! Is it just me or did it end way to fast? I thought I would put together the top 17 lessons I've learned from going full time with my dream job!

  1. Organization is half the battle when it comes to getting things done. Knowing where things are and where they go is so important!
  2. Having encouraging people in your inner circle is priceless. Distance yourself from anyone who doesn't make you feel like you can't do what you love.
  3. Just because someone is older or more experienced than you doesn't make them right.
  4. Change is SCARY but inevitable. Embrace change and find people to help you ride the waves of life well.
  5. Social media does not define your worth. It doesn't matter how many likes or followers you have. You are valuable, unique, and important.
  6. You can always improve. You can always find new ways to grow and new things to learn!
  7. Progress is progress no matter how small. You can run, walk, or take baby steps towards new goals and it all counts! Just keep moving forward.
  8. Your day can always improve with a good cup of coffee.
  9. Take more pictures and videos. You'll never regret having them!
  10. You are stronger than you think.
  11. Create time to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. Get a manicure, read a book, go for a walk, volunteer, do things to recharge and nourish your soul.
  12. Find ways to love on your tribe. Send flowers, coffee, texts, anything to let the people love know you treasure them.
  13. Surround yourself with people who inspire you to be the best version of yourself.
  14. You can do anything you set your mind to as long as you are passionate about it and work hard.
  15. Take your time.
  16. It’s okay to fail as long as you gave your best effort and try again.
  17. It's never to late to chase a new dream.

The Skolrud Family

It’s not what we have in our life, but who we have in our life that counts.
— J.M. Laurence

This family. They are incredible. When I grow up I want to be Breanne 😉  I've had the gift of knowing this tribe since I was 17! I love watching how Ava and Kennah have grown closer together over the years. Ava is a creative, fun, sweet, thoughtful big sister who is the perfect fit for sassy, silly, kind, adorable Kennah. They are blessed by their amazing parents and capturing their love on camera is an absolute joy. Enjoy some images from their family session below!

Proposal: Cody & Annie

You. Guys. Last week was amazing! I'm so excited to share photos from Cody and Annie's proposal at Lake Samish in Bellingham. My favorite part of the day was Annie's reaction when Cody got on one knee. Her face was priceless! I was hiding behind a tree in the backyard of Annie's Grandmothers gorgeous lakeside home waiting for him to pop the question when- no joke- a spider crawled on my arm. It took everything in my power to not scream. Thankfully mr. spider disappeared into the grass and I could focus all my attention on this sweet couple ;) Another funny moment was how long Cody took to ask the question! I was wondering why he was taking so long to ask but realized he was checking his phone waiting for me to text him to see if I was ready to go- but my phone was inside the house! Haha! Despite these few snags in our plan- the proposal went PERFECT! Cody and Annie are soulmates. I can't wait to watch them grow in love for one another and start planning their future together! Congrats you two!
